Dan Snyder
Dan Snyder is the Director of Cherry Street Worship – the postmodern worship service – at First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, PA. Growing up in a Fundamental-Evangelical Church, Dan developed a deep love and respect for the Scriptures. By the time he was a teenager he had memorized over 1,000 bible verses including several complete passages. He has read through the entire bible many times. One year he was challenged by a friend to read one entire book of the bible every day for one year and met that challenge.
Though Dan admits that some of this was motivated by pride, this heritage has given him a foundation. He readily thinks and lives with Scripture as the starting point. And over the years, his zealous ambition has been tempered by a humble wonderment as he watches the way God’s Word works in people’s lives.
“Scripture Echo is a way to marinate in Scripture. Too often we approach the bible the way we read the newspaper – plundering it for what we need for the day. We have to ‘soak’ in the words of Scripture like a tea bag in hot water for it to have a proper effect on us. Scripture Echo slows the process down to a pace at which the Word of God can do its work.”
Dan also does ministry-coaching work with leadership teams, guiding them through transitions. “Before I prepare for these assignment I pray, searching for a passage of Scripture to guide a congregation’s transition process. I enjoy watching these texts work to inform God’s people along the way.”
Dan is a Candidate for Ordination in the PC(USA) and completing his Masters of Divinity at Lancaster Theological Seminary. One day he hopes to do research on the effect that a pastor’s personal spiritual formation has on a congregation.
